Measles is a viral infection that occurs world-wide, often in epidemics. It occurs most commonly in childhood but it can infect an age. Widespread vaccination in developed countries including the UK has resulted in a massive reduction in the number of cases of measles.

However, in other parts of the world it is significant cause of childhood illness and death.
