Your choice will be determined by your age, lifestyle, and fitness level. You should choose a form of exercise that you will enjoy. There is a wide choice, including walking, swimming, jogging, cycling, aerobics, circuit training and dance.

Not all sports are aerobic. For example, tennis and netball consists of short bursts of activity and frequent pauses, while squash is inadvisable for those over 30 years and unused to exercise.

Your choice of activity will also depend on local facilities and by what kind of person are you. You may prefer solo swimming in the fast lane, or team activities such as hockey.

For some people, exercise means the opportunity to relax and get away from it all; for other it means a chance to socialize and make new friends.
